17 men from UCNI Church, Siliguri participated in the retreat and the facilitators were Elder Joshua Pradhan, Elder Daya Ratna Pradhan and Pastor Enos Simick.
The main focus of the retreat was to think through what the main purpose of the church is. Elder Joshua Pradhan lead a session on “Life Mission” giving examples from many characters in history who lived lives with a clear purpose, some for good and some for bad. He majored on the life of William Carey. The men were challenged to make their life count for the sake of the gospel.
Elder Daya Ratna Pradhan shared about God’s Vision and God’s dream and challenged the participants to consider reaching out to the poor and needy by leading a very interesting group Bible Study on the subject. He beautifully drew out the participation from every member as vital issues relating to our Christian walk were discussed.
Pastor Enos Simick led two very important sessions on Missions and how and why we as a church should be involved in this enterprise, which originated from the heart of God. The sessions were so stimulating and challenging that participants felt that the time given was too short to discuss this very important issue.
In closing, Eld Joshua Pradhan divided the participants into three groups and each group discussed the mission of the church and what steps should be taken to fulfill God’s mission for the church. Each group wrote their finding on chart papers. Each group presented their findings. There was a spirit of expectancy and excitement as the members returned with a clearer purpose for their existence and their future involvement in the church.
